How to upgrade, change or cancel your plan, and get a refund

Upgrade to Premium or Pro, switch plans or billing period, update your card, cancel at the end of the period, and ask for a refund within 7 days.

Everything to do with your plan lives on one page in the dashboard: open the account menu (top right) → Account & billing. You never leave the site to pay or manage your subscription.

How to upgrade

  1. Open your account. In the dashboard, open the account menu (top right) and choose Account & billing.
  2. Pick monthly or yearly. In the Plans section, use the Monthly / Yearly switch. Yearly saves 30% on Premium and 30% on Pro.
  3. Choose a plan. Click Upgrade to Premium or Upgrade to Pro. Locked features elsewhere in the dashboard link to the same place.
  4. Pay on the checkout page. A secure Stripe checkout opens inside the dashboard, next to a summary of your new plan. You can still switch between monthly and yearly there. If you have a promotion code, enter it in the checkout form.
  5. Start using it. After paying, you're back on your account page with the message “You're on Pro now. Enjoy!” (or Premium). The new limits apply straight away.

Prices: Premium $4.99 a month or $41.99 a year; Pro $14.99 a month or $125.99 a year. See QR Crab plans compared: Free, Premium and Pro for what each plan includes.

The Billing section

Once you have a subscription, the Account & billing page shows a Billing section with:

  • Subscription: your plan, price, status and the date and amount of your Next payment, with the Change plan and Cancel subscription buttons.
  • Payment method: the card on file and an Update card button.
  • Invoices: every invoice with its status and a Download PDF link.

Change plan or billing period

Click Change plan in the Billing section, or the button on a plan card in the Plans section (Upgrade to Pro, Switch to Premium, Switch to yearly billing and so on). Pick the new plan and the dialog shows the price before you confirm:

  • Upgrade on the same billing period (for example Premium monthly to Pro monthly): you pay today the price difference for the rest of the current period, and the new plan starts right away. Your renewal date doesn't change. The button shows the amount, for example Pay $… now.
  • Downgrade on the same billing period (for example Pro yearly to Premium yearly): nothing to pay today. The new plan starts now, and the unused part of your current plan is credited on your next invoice.
  • Monthly to yearly, or yearly to monthly: you pay today the new price minus the unused part of your current plan, and your new billing period starts today. The button shows the amount, for example Pay $… now. If the unused part is worth more, you get a credit for future invoices instead.
  • If the card is declined, nothing changes: you stay on your current plan and can try again after updating your card.

Moving from Pro to Premium can lock some trackable codes if you have more than Premium allows; see What happens to my QR codes after I downgrade?.

Cancel your subscription

  1. Go to Account & billing → Billing and click Cancel subscription (or Switch to Free on the Free plan card).
  2. The dialog tells you the date your plan ends and how many trackable codes will be locked on Free.
  3. Click Cancel subscription to confirm, or Keep my plan to back out.

You won't be charged again. Your plan stays until the end of the period you paid for; the subscription shows Cancelled and the date it Ends on. After that your account moves to Free automatically.

Changed your mind? Click Resume subscription any time before that date and it carries on as before. While a cancellation is pending, you need to resume before you can switch plans.

Refunds: the 7-day money-back guarantee

If QR Crab isn't right for you, we refund the first payment of a Premium or Pro subscription in full, monthly or yearly, if you ask within 7 days of that first charge:

  • Email support@qrcrab.com from the email address on your account and say you'd like a refund. No reason needed.
  • The money goes back to your original payment method through Stripe. Your bank usually shows it within 5–10 business days.
  • After the refund your subscription ends and your account moves to Free.

Not refunded: renewals (the automatic charges after the first one), requests more than 7 days after the first charge, and the unused part of a period after you cancel. Switching plans isn't a new first payment, so the guarantee only covers the first payment of your original subscription. If you were charged by mistake, for example twice for the same period, write to us and we'll put it right. The full terms are in our Refund Policy.

Common questions

Will I be charged again after I cancel?

No. Cancelling stops all future charges. You keep your plan until the end of the period you've already paid for, and then your account moves to Free.

Can I get a refund for the rest of my year if I cancel?

Only within 7 days of your first payment, under the money-back guarantee. After that, the unused part of a period isn't refunded; you keep your plan until the period ends instead.

Where are my invoices?

In Account & billing → Billing → Invoices. Click Download PDF next to any invoice.

What happens if a payment fails?

Your subscription shows Past due and you keep your plan while the payment is retried. Click Update card in the Billing section; the overdue payment is retried with the new card right away.

Do I lose my codes if I cancel?

No. Nothing is deleted, and every code keeps working. Trackable codes over the Free limit become locked until you upgrade again or delete other codes; see the article on downgrading.

Is my card stored by QR Crab?

No. Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go straight to Stripe and never touch QR Crab's servers.
